Typical Team
Haiti Foundation of Hope sends approximately three medical and dental teams to rural northern Haiti each year. Both medical and non-medical people are needed for the 10-day clinic
trips. Anyone 18 years or older is welcome to apply. Those 16 and 17 can apply with a parent or guardian. The trip is financed by team members and gifts from their families and friends.
A typical team leaves the United States late Thursday, arriving in Port-au-Prince, Haiti the following afternoon. The team travels up-country to its final destination and sets up home for the next eight days. There is no running water or electricity, but there is purified water, portable generators for electricity and tiled bathrooms and showers. Team members participate in the Sunday morning church service and after lunch they begin to set up clinic. The pharmacy is stocked with donated medicines and medicines purchased with funds from team members’ payments.
Clinic begins Monday morning and continues through Friday with an hour and a half 
lunch break each day. About 35 Haitians join the team. Every team member is critical. The clinic will treat patients will various problems including malaria, typhoid, TB, AIDS, skin diseases and illnesses associated with severe malnutrition. A typical team will see over 1,000 patients. Team members may also help with other activities and projects such as Bible school for children and the women’s trade school.
Friday evening is a time to inventory clinic supplies. On Saturday, team members say farewell to Haitian co-workers and head out, arriving home in the United States late Sunday.
